"Early Morning Sky in the Cove"
This shot was taken at 6:48 a.m. this past Thursday morning. We were the third vehicle in line waiting for the gate to open at Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We saw 6 shooting stars within the first five minutes after parking and I was lucky enough to capture a few pics for proof, including one with 2 in it. However, this is not one of them. But if you look up near the top just to the right of center you can see 3 stars in line. I believe this is Orion's Belt. (f/4; 25 sec; 1600 ISO @ 28 mm)

"Amis Mill Dam"
Big Creek Dam, built by Thomas Amis in 1780.
The Amis Dam on Big Creek is one of the oldest man-built dams in Tennessee, built in circa 1780, and a rich part of history for the area. The age of the dam is over 230 years old. Amazing! Though well built, time is taking a toll on the structure and repairs are imminent to maintain its integrity.
Amis Mill Eatery is just across the road from here and since I'm planning on being in the area tomorrow, just may stop here for lunch. In Rogersville, Tn.

"Old Log House"
Found this one today on the back side of Clinch Mountain from Bristol, Va. on Moccasin Valley Rd. in Russell County, Va. (Maybe Scott Co., not sure.) Looks like it was an old log home at one time bearing evidence of weatherboard siding having been added at some time. Now being used as a hay barn.
