Big Creek Dam, built by Thomas Amis in 1780.
The Amis Dam on Big Creek is one of the oldest man-built dams in
Tennessee, built in circa 1780, and a rich part of history for the area.
The age
of the dam is over 230 years old. Amazing! Though well built, time is
taking a toll on the structure and repairs are imminent to maintain its
integrity.
Amis Mill Eatery is just across the road from here and since I'm planning on being in the area tomorrow, just may stop here for lunch. In Rogersville, Tn.
