This is the corn crib at the Ephraim Bales Place on Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. The Bales family lived here on 70+ acres, from 1890 until 1930. Soon after this area became the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the farm still stands much as it must have been like ..... once upon a time.

"Beyond Daisy Town"

Here is one of the many old cabins in the Elkmont area of the Great Smoky Mountains. These were summer retreats for the private sector in the days before this area became a national park.

A bull Elk guarding his harem in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There were around 20 cows and calves but he has his eye on the 8 younger bulls across the way that were keeping their distance but keeping up. Near Cherokee, N.C.
